Patent Litigation Associate Job Description

We are seeking a talented and driven attorney with 1-5 years PQE to join our clients Intellectual Property group, focusing on patent litigation within the technology and life sciences sectors.

As an Associate in this role, you will play a pivotal role in building our patent litigation capabilities while working closely with the head of practice, a leading figure in the Patent litigation field.


This position offers significant client exposure, early responsibility, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the firm's growth and reputation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on contentious patent matters, with a focus on clients in the technology and life sciences sectors.
  • Provide strategic counsel that aligns with our clients' commercial objectives, including litigation, mediation, and arbitration.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering expertise across a spectrum of IP rights including patents, copyright, trade secrets, and more.
  • Take ownership of matters, ensuring high standards of technical expertise and client service.
  • Manage and advise on multi-jurisdictional patent disputes, devising litigation strategies for clients on a pan-European and global basis.
  • Collaborate effectively with international teams to provide seamless cross-border services.
  • Work collaboratively within the IP team, contributing to the firm's sector focus areas including technology, life sciences, and decarbonisation.
  • Assist in securing new clients, maintaining relationships with existing ones, and expanding our network within the IP community.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • 1-5 years PQE in a patent litigation team within private practice.
  • Strong background in patent disputes, particularly within the technology and life sciences sectors.
  • Must have English court experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality client service with a commercial perspective.
  • Comfortable managing significant client exposure and responsibility.
  • A relevant academic background in law, particularly with the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice, is an asset.
