Job Title: Senior Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join our team at The Recruiter Ltd. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, overseeing the renewal underwriting process, and evaluating complex risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Renewals underwriting, including managing a portfolio of approximately 75 renewals per month.
  • Lead and manage a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure team growth and success.
  • Maintain premium income per binder in line with projections and company strategy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key brokers, identifying renewal threats and assisting handlers on renewal strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with best practice procedures and review and update renewal template letters to brokers.
  • Filter referrals to insurers and act as a technical referral point for the renewals team.
  • Set performance goals, conduct performance appraisals, and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting effective communication, knowledge sharing, and teamwork.
Requirements:
  • Commercial underwriting experience, specifically in Property and Liability, ideally in all or some of the products mentioned above.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex risks and make informed decisions.
  • Experience in dealing with Commercial brokers/ Insurers and working in a small team in SME organisations.
  • Proven track record of developing new and existing relationships with key brokers and ability to deliver on financial targets.
