About this role
We are seeking a skilled Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Liaison Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career, shape our strategy, and provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Main duties of the job
As a key member of our team, you will provide specialist medical and psychiatric assessment and treatment to adults aged 17 and over, referred to the Mental Health Liaison Team from the Emergency Department and inpatient wards. Your expertise in working-age adults' mental health, organic mental states, medically unexplained symptoms, and the interplay between physical and mental health problems will be invaluable in this role.

About the team
You will be joining a team with a history of participating in nationally-recognised Liaison Psychiatry research and which is actively involved in the teaching and training of students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School. You will also be involved in developing new care pathways and integrated psychiatric care in line with the NHS Long Term Plan.
Job requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Excellent knowledge in specialty.
Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
