Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our acute services at Mill View Hospital in Hove. This role offers a unique chance to work with working-age patients on Regency Ward, a 20-bed adult mental health ward.

Regency Ward is part of Mill View Hospital, which houses four other acute wards with established medical teams and the Crisis Home Treatment Team. The hospital is also the base for the West Brighton & Hove Community Team.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team, including an Associate Specialist and Doctors in Training, to deliver person-centered mental health care. They will be supported by a substantive nursing team and have opportunities to support medical students and physician associates.

Main Duties
  • To provide assessment and treatment for voluntary and detained patients with acute mental health conditions.
  • To work closely with the nursing team, allied health professionals, families, and carers.
  • To provide senior medical leadership to the ward and manage complex cases.
  • To provide clinical advice and liaison as required to colleagues in primary care, community services, and acute specialties.

The selected candidate will contribute to local service development and be part of a Trust-wide consultant network. They will have opportunities to liaise with colleagues across the Trust and develop peer networks.

About the Job

This role attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, in addition to a relocation allowance of up to £8000. The payment structure includes:

  • £5000 paid on appointment
  • £5000 retention payment paid at 12 months
  • £6500 retention payment paid at 30 months
  • £8500 retention payment paid at 48 months

The trust values flexible working and provides opportunities for staff to work flexibly.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspectives and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
