About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Community Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in the East Assessment and Treatment Service (ATS) in Brighton & Hove, you will be working with a supportive and enthusiastic team to provide specialist assessments and treatment to patients presenting with complex mental health needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert medical and psychiatric assessment and evidence-based treatment to patients referred to the service.
  • Offer clinical supervision to healthcare staff and informal advice and guidance to non-medical team members.
  • Take on the role of Responsible Clinician for patients subject to Community Treatment Orders, attending Managers Hearings and Tribunals as required.
  • Conduct Mental Health Act assessments for patients on the team caseload.
  • Liaise with inpatient clinicians and other stakeholders as necessary.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong background in psychiatry, with excellent knowledge of the specialty and the ability to apply this in a fast-paced community setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • The capacity to manage complex and unpredictable situations, prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively.
  • An awareness of the importance of shared leadership and collaborative working, with a commitment to delivering improvement in patient care.
