Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Learning and Development to join our team at The Police Service of Northern Ireland. As a key member of our People and Organisational Development department, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and management of our training, learning, and organisational development function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive Learning and Development Strategy that aligns with our Policing Plan and People Strategy.
    • Drive the design, development, and delivery of training programs that meet the operational needs of our organisation.
  • Organisational Development
    • Develop and implement a framework for organisational development that supports strategic service re-design and reform.
    • Lead the development of a high-performing, professional, and multi-disciplinary training, learning, and organisational development function.
  • Team Management
    • Lead and motivate a diverse team of training, learning, and organisational development professionals.
    • Set performance objectives, hold staff accountable, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Resource Management
    • Manage the overall training, learning, and organisational development budget.
    • Ensure effective use of resources and value for money.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Liaise closely with the Service Executive Team as a subject matter expert.
    • Provide advice, insight, and recommendations on training, learning, and organisational development matters.
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Minimum of three years' experience in a senior management role responsible for training, learning, and organisational development in a complex organisation.
  • Qualifications and Skills
    • Evidence of strategy development skills.
    • Proven track record of leading and motivating a team.
    • Experience of implementing innovative training methodologies.
    • IT literate in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
