Job Title: Highly Specialised Neonatal Speech Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Speech Therapist to join our team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering specialist speech and language therapy support to infants and families on our neonatal units.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing early communication and feeding challenges associated with prematurity and health conditions of babies admitted to our neonatal units.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver specialist speech and language therapy support to infants and families on our neonatal units.
  2. Assess, diagnose, and manage early communication and feeding challenges associated with prematurity and health conditions of babies admitted to our neonatal units.
  3. Work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including Neonatal Consultants and Nursing Teams, Infant Feeding Team, AHP and Psychology Team, and families to provide evidence-based care.
  4. Develop and implement individualised care plans to support the communication and feeding needs of infants and families.
  5. Contribute to the development and implementation of our neonatal speech and language therapy service.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised Speech and Language Qualification - Degree or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of completion of relevant specialist short courses or equivalent in-house training.
  • Post Graduate Dysphagia Qualification or equivalent in-house training.
  • Experience working with neonates and infants and/or children with complex needs.
  • Experience of independently managing feeding and swallowing difficulties associated with a neonatal or paediatric caseload.
  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams.
