Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Speech Therapist to join our team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering specialist speech and language therapy support to infants and families on our neonatal units.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Assess and manage early communication and feeding challenges associated with prematurity and health conditions of babies admitted to the neonatal unit.
  2. Work closely with Neonatal Consultants and Nursing Teams, Infant Feeding Team, AHP and Psychology Team (local and ODN), and families to provide evidence-based care.
  3. Develop and deliver education and training opportunities for others within your scope of practice.
  4. Communicate effectively in challenging environments and situations with patients, their families/carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Lead and manage unpredictable and unplanned clinical situations.
  6. Participate in resource management, strategic service development, planning and service improvement.
  7. Lead, monitor, develop and appraise staff and learners.

Requirements
  • Recognised Speech and Language Qualification - Degree or equivalent.
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Evidence of Completion of relevant specialist short courses or equivalent in-house training.
  • Post Graduate Dysphagia Qualification or equivalent in-house training.
Desirable
  • Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) & relevant specialist groups/ Clinical Excellence Networks.
  • Experience working at Neonatal Dysphagia Competency Level C.
