Formula 1 Power Unit Materials Expert

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate student to join our Materials and Battery Engineering team as part of our exciting Materials Engineering Student Placement opportunity. This placement will run from Summer 2025 for one year, allowing you to apply your knowledge and skills in an open and dynamic environment.
You will be working closely with experienced engineers and technicians to develop your Materials Engineering skills and contribute to the Materials Engineering of RBPT's 2026 Formula 1 Power Unit. You will be involved in all stages of the Materials Engineering process from material recommendations, testing, process specification, and failure investigation.
RequirementsTo be considered for this placement, you should have at least two years of undergraduate study in a Materials Science or Materials Engineering degree course with an expected 2:1 or better. You should also have practical knowledge of materials analysis techniques such as metallography, microscopy, and SEM, as well as knowledge of materials testing and characterisation such as tensile testing and thermal property measurement.
