Job Title: Campus Safety Sergeant

Widener University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Safety Sergeant to join our team. This is a full-time position that operates on a 3rd shift schedule, averaging 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of Campus Safety Corporals and Officers, providing guidance and direction to ensure a safe and secure environment on campus.
  • Oversee the response to calls for service and incidents, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare and review reports, including incident reports and shift summaries.
  • Assist with the investigation and resolution of incidents, working closely with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including dispatch and customer service responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; experience in a supervisory or customer service role preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle in all types of weather conditions.
  • Experience with dispatch software and communication systems; knowledge of the Clery Act and associated regulations a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in higher education or a school environment; law enforcement, military, or public safety experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with the local area and surrounding community; knowledge of criminal laws and departmental regulations and procedures a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time; ability to walk up and down stairs both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time both inside and outside of buildings.
