Widener University is actively looking for a dedicated full-time Campus Safety Supervisor for the overnight shift. This role involves outdoor operations and typically requires 40 hours of work per week, spanning 10 hours from 11:00 PM to 9:00 AM. The position reports directly to the Lieutenant on duty and is responsible for leading a team of Campus Safety Corporals and Officers, providing crucial guidance and support. Furthermore, this role entails primary oversight of all personnel assigned to the shift, including van/shuttle drivers and student employees within the Office of Campus Safety.

COMPENSATION:

Starting Pay Rate - $20.91 per hour

Sign-On Bonus – New hires who maintain good standing and successfully complete the training program are eligible for a one-time stipend of $500.00 after three months of employment. Additionally, those who remain in good standing and complete the training program may receive another one-time stipend of $1,000.00 after six months of employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) :

Essential duties:

Act as a designated Campus Security Authority (CSA) in compliance with the Clery Act. Oversee the supervisory sector and the officers assigned to that area, providing direction and support. Supervise responses to any service calls and incidents that arise. Accurately prepare reports detailing incidents occurring on campus. Review all reports submitted by officers during the shift to ensure accuracy and completeness before being relieved of duty. Assume the responsibilities of the shift commander in the Lieutenant's absence. Assist the Lieutenant in providing on-the-job training for all personnel assigned to the shift. Perform the duties of a dispatcher or Campus Safety Officer as required. Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as necessary. Aid in the investigation and resolution of incidents. Carry out other duties as assigned or directed.

Secondary responsibilities:

Flexibility to work additional shifts as needed, including but not limited to the dispatch office. Assist with University athletic and special events. Manage crowds during events or peak times to ensure a safe and orderly environment. Operate the Campus1Card system and distribute parking permits. Monitor and manage staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage. Schedule and coordinate shift assignments for officers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Valid Driver's License. Experience in a progressively responsible supervisory or customer service role. Familiarity with dispatch software and communication systems. Ability to cultivate positive relationships with the public through professional interactions. Capability to lead and organize a public safety team. Must successfully pass a criminal background check, including PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI clearance.

Preferred:

Experience in higher education or a school environment. Background in law enforcement, military, campus, or public safety. Knowledge of the local area and surrounding community. Understanding of the Clery Act and related regulations. Familiarity with criminal laws and departmental regulations and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

Ability to walk for extended periods. Ability to navigate stairs both inside and outside of buildings. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods both inside and outside of buildings. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs.
