The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking a skilled and motivated Anti-Fraud Investigator to join its Internal Audit and Anti-Fraud team.

We require an experienced investigator with a background in fraud prevention and a strong analytical approach to their work. The ideal candidate will have a relevant qualification, such as the Accredited Counter Fraud Officer (ACFO) certification, and be able to apply their knowledge and skills in a Local Authority or Government Agency setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and undertaking investigations, interviewing staff and witnesses, and preparing case files for referral to Legal Services or Police for prosecution actions. They will also be expected to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and legislation, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE).

About You

  • Practical experience of planning and undertaking investigations within a Local Authority or Government Agency
  • Relevant qualification from an organisation such as the ACFO or similar
  • Ability to apply judgement and sensitivity during investigations
  • Ability to interview staff or persons suspected of fraud or irregularity
