About the role
The Senior Assessor role is crucial in ensuring that only those who meet our professional competency requirements become IOSH qualified professionals.
The primary responsibility of this role is to verify that assessments of an individual's knowledge, submitted portfolio, and any professional discussion interview process, are conducted consistently in line with the standards and learning objectives of our different competency levels.
Assessments are critical to the success of admitting candidates to our membership grades and professional registration.
Key responsibilities include ensuring inclusive assessments, maintaining consistent and appropriate assessment standards, and providing recommendations on assessment outcomes to the Professional Development and Standards Team.
These activities will be undertaken under the direction of the IOSH Professional Development Lead.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and understanding of quality systems and processes
- Understanding of educational assessment requirements and processes
- Demonstrable understanding of the OSH sector
- Excellent organisation and planning skills
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written communication skills
- Exemplary record keeping and attention to detail
- Robust IT skills
- Ability to work and manage the work of others independently
- Self-assurance and confidence to challenge and influence others
Experience and Education
- Demonstrable assessment marking experience, with IOSH or other Institution or Awarding Organisation
- Evidence of at least 3 years of working in an educational quality assurance role with knowledge of assessment and quality assurance principles
- Relevant subject expert, qualified to at least Level 6 in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Sector
- A relevant and appropriate assessment qualification, or willingness to undertake a qualification
- Hold Chartered Membership status with IOSH
