This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician who has completed their Foundation training to develop medical education skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise study groups of eight or nine students from years 1 and 2 in their completion of workbook activities.
  • Support teaching during early clinical placements, developing students' knowledge and skills so they can make a smooth transition into full-time clinical training in year 3.
  • Teach examination skills.
  • Assess students through question writing, standard setting, and marking (both written and OSCE assessments).

This role provides an excellent chance to develop teaching and educational skills, offering useful preparation for several Royal College postgraduate examinations. You will have the opportunity to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and have the opportunity to apply for an Accredited Teaching Qualification.

About you

We are looking for applicants who hold MB ChB or equivalent and have completed satisfactorily two years of Foundation Training, or the equivalent, at the time of taking up their post together with full GMC registration.

You should have experience in higher education, preferably medical education, be able to demonstrate an interest in clinical education and be able to highlight the importance, significance and relevance of basic science in clinical medicine and practice.
