About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Scientist to join our Biochemical Genetics Laboratory at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing scientific services and clinical advisory services in the areas of Newborn Bloodspot and foetal anomaly screening.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain specialised knowledge in Newborn Bloodspot and foetal anomaly screening.
- Provide scientific services and clinical advisory services within these areas.
- Take an active role in service development in the above area.
Person Specification
Essential
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- To be an autonomous practitioner capable of dealing professionally with clinical colleagues including medical and nursing staff.
Desirable
- Able to initiate and co-ordinate R & D activities.
Experience
Essential
- Completion of pre-registration training program for Clinical Scientists.
Desirable
- Previous working experience in Newborn Bloodspot or Foetal Anomaly Screening or Biochemical Genetics laboratory.
- Experience of using the following techniques/analysers: LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, AutoDELFIA, HPLC.
Qualifications
Essential
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (or close to obtaining registration).
- Masters Degree in Biochemistry Clinical Biochemistry.
Desirable
- Relevant PhD.
