About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist to join our Biochemical Genetics Laboratory team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a Senior Scientist, you will play a key role in the provision of scientific services and clinical advisory services in the areas of Newborn Bloodspot and Foetal Anomaly Screening.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain specialised knowledge in Newborn Bloodspot and Foetal Anomaly Screening, under consultant/principal supervision.
Take responsibility for the provision of scientific services and clinical advisory services within these areas.
Have an active role in service development in the above area.
Person Specification
Essential
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- To be an autonomous practitioner capable of dealing professionally with clinical colleagues.
Desirable
- Able to initiate and co-ordinate R & D activities.
Experience
Essential
- Completion of pre-registration training program for Clinical Scientists.
Desirable
- Previous working experience in Newborn Bloodspot or Foetal Anomaly Screening or Biochemical Genetics laboratory.
- Experience of using the following techniques/analysers: LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, AutoDELFIA, HPLC.
Qualifications
Essential
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (or close to obtaining registration).
- Masters Degree in Biochemistry Clinical Biochemistry.
Desirable
- Relevant PhD.
