Job Description

This role involves being part of a team that assesses individuals' suitability for psychological support at the pre-sentence stage. After an Order is imposed with a Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR), a 12-session therapy program is provided, co-produced with the participant, to identify and understand difficulties and develop positive coping mechanisms. If further work or specialist support is needed, we will help identify and access it.

You will manage a caseload of people with MHTR as part of a community sentence, developing a strong understanding of how mental distress links with offending risks, and providing self-help materials, reviewing progress, and making onward referrals where necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of individuals with MHTR
  • Develop a deep understanding of mental health and offending risks
  • Provide self-help materials and review progress
  • Make onward referrals and signpost for further information
  • Communicate effectively with Probation colleagues and Courts
  • Work collaboratively with external healthcare providers
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant academic qualification in Psychology
  • An interest in pursuing a career in Psychology and/or criminal justice
  • Experience working in a criminal justice/mental health setting
  • The ability to travel across a specified area to deliver in-person support
