About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Worker to join our team at Barnet Council. As a key member of our residential team, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and Implement Development: Work collaboratively with the team to enhance the well-being of children through training and development opportunities.
  • Child Protection and Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and protection of children from harm and discrimination, adhering to Ofsted and legislative requirements.
  • Compliance and Governance: Assist in maintaining compliance with company policies, legislation, and regulatory bodies.
  • Recreational Activities: Organize and supervise activities, including trips, to promote socialization and skill development.
  • Communication and Relationships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, social workers, schools, and other professionals.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the home provides a safe environment, adhering to Health and Safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medication as guided by medical practitioners, ensuring the health and well-being of children.
  • Household Duties: Perform household tasks, including cooking, cleaning, and laundry, to maintain a clean and comfortable living environment.
  • Therapeutic Philosophy: Adhere to the therapeutic philosophy of the home and organization, promoting a supportive and nurturing environment.
  • Training and Development: Attend meetings and training sessions as required, enhancing your skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least one year of experience working in a children's home or similar setting.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with child protection and safeguarding procedures, as well as Health and Safety regulations and the Data Protection Act.
  • Skills: Ability to maintain confidentiality, work flexibly, and develop good working relationships with colleagues and external partners.
