Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Program Coordinator/Assistant Professor to join our team in the Department of Nursing and Allied Health. This is a tenure-track position that requires a strong academic background and experience in teaching, research, and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the completion of annual assessment reports and contribute to the development of program goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate procedures for admission or denial of graduate program applicants and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Lead program planning and curriculum development, including the creation of new courses and programs.
  • Serve as liaison to the School of Graduate Studies and provide support for graduate students.
  • Chair the graduate committee and oversee the review of student petitions and appeals.
  • Track all students in the program and maintain accurate records.
  • Remain current on policies and procedures and provide training and support to faculty and staff.
  • Support marketing and recruitment efforts for the graduate program and develop strategies to increase enrollment.
  • Teach assigned courses every semester, including summer, and submit syllabi in accordance with university guidelines.
  • Remain available to students for academic advisement and mentoring and announce and keep office hours that are convenient to both students and the professor.
  • Establish and maintain professional and ethical boundaries with colleagues, students, and others in the learning environment.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, professional development, and service and strive to develop among students, respect for others and their opinions.
  • Maintain student records, respecting FERPA and other privacy standards.
  • Establish and maintain instructor presence in the online environment and communicate effectively.

Requirements

  • An earned Ph.D or Doctorate in Health Informatics or related field.
  • A record of teaching online courses in institutions of higher learning, using Blackboard.
  • Evidence of scholarly activities, professional development, and service.
  • Experience in the use of technology, software, and resources to assist in the delivery of course content.
  • Experience working in the healthcare field.
  • Evidence of Online Instructor Certification and/or Quality Matters Certification.
