Project Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the University of Cambridge, working on a collaborative project with AstraZeneca. The project focuses on understanding the mechanisms of electrical signalling in neuroendocrine cancer cells and exploring potential targets for inhibiting cancer cell metabolism, proliferation, and invasion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research on ion channels and their roles in controlling the electrical properties of neuroendocrine cancer cells
  • Utilize state-of-the-art electrophysiological and imaging techniques to investigate the mechanisms of electrical signalling in cancer cells
  • Collaborate with supervisors from both the University of Cambridge and AstraZeneca to integrate findings and develop new treatment strategies

Requirements and Qualifications

  • First or upper second-class degree in a relevant subject such as physiology, biochemistry, biophysics, or pharmacology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and think critically
  • Strong background in electrophysiology, ion channels, and neuroendocrine biology
