PhD Researcher in Therapeutic Cancer Prevention

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD researcher to join our team at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will be working on a collaborative project jointly supervised by Prof Walid Khaled in Pharmacology and Dr Mark Albertella and Dr Andrew Reynolds at AstraZeneca.

The project, entitled "Therapeutic cancer prevention of hereditary cancers", aims to test various therapeutic options to prevent the development of breast cancer in high-risk individuals. The researcher will have the opportunity to engage with a multidisciplinary team, including computational biologists and experimentalists from the University of Cambridge and AstraZeneca.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in cell or developmental biology, or biochemistry, and be capable of thinking and working independently. Prior experience with mouse model and/or single cell genomics is welcome.

The studentship provides full funding covering maintenance fees and the University Composition Fee. The researcher will be based in the Department of Pharmacology and the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on therapeutic cancer prevention of hereditary cancers
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement research methodologies
  • Present research findings

Requirements:

  • PhD in Pharmacology or a related field
  • Strong background in cell or developmental biology, or biochemistry
  • Ability to think and work independently
  • Prior experience with mouse model and/or single cell genomics
