Acute Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Care Physician to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our acute medical services, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our acute medicine services.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with acute medical conditions, working closely with our multidisciplinary clinical team to provide expert care. You will also be expected to participate in the out-of-hours service delivery of acute medical take, working collaboratively with our A&E team to improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and treat acutely ill medical patients, including identifying and managing patients from the A&E department.
- Supervise the on-call junior medical team and work closely with consultant physician colleagues to develop alternatives to hospital admission.
- Participate in the development of joint working practices with the A&E team to improve the emergency patient experience.
- Contribute to the development of our acute medicine services, including the creation of ambulatory care pathways and specialty urgent care pathways.
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
- Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice.
- On the Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Acute Medicine and General Internal Medicine, or eligible for CCT within 6 months of the date of interview.
- MRCP or equivalent.
