About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Acute Medicine Specialist to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a Locum Consultant in Acute Care, you will play a key role in supporting our acute medical services and contributing to the development of our Same Day Emergency Care service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in Acute Medicine, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital admissions.
  • Collaborate with our A&E team to develop joint working practices and improve the emergency patient experience.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours service delivery of acute medical take, working on a rota basis with our consultant physician colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of our Acute Medicine service, including the creation of new pathways and protocols.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Registered with the GMC and licensed to practice.
  • On the Specialist Register with GMC as a specialist in Acute Medicine and General Internal Medicine, or eligible for CCT within 6 months of the date of interview.
  • MRCP or equivalent.
  • Relevant higher degree, such as a PhD, MD, or MSc.
  • Teaching qualification or higher qualification in medical education.
