Orthopaedic Dietetics Opportunity

An exciting position has arisen for a skilled dietitian to join the specialist orthopaedic team at University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP). As a Band 6 Surgical Specialist Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing a high standard of dietetic service to patients with complex nutritional needs. This includes comprehensive assessment, planning, and monitoring of patient requirements using evidence-based practice.

The successful candidate will work as an active member of the specialist orthopaedic multidisciplinary team, collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care. To succeed in this role, you will need demonstrable post-graduate NHS experience across various specialties, including surgical experience, and an understanding of orthopaedics and the role nutrition plays in the acute and recovery phase post-surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a specialist dietetic service to orthopaedic inpatients, following evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in regular teaching and training for patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise dietetic assistants and students, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and support.
  • Monitor and report dietetic outcome measures for orthopaedic inpatients, contributing to the improvement of clinical outcomes and service development.
  • Act as a reliable source of dietetic knowledge, providing expertise to patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in audit and research related to orthopaedics to improve clinical outcomes and develop the dietetic service.

Salary Information: We offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around £43,877 - £52,060 per annum, depending on experience. Requirements:

  • BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
  • HCPC Registration
  • Completion of clinical supervisory skills training
  • Counselling skills training
  • Demonstrable post-graduate NHS experience across various specialties, including surgical experience
  • Understanding of orthopaedics and the role nutrition plays in the acute and recovery phase post-surgery
