About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Highways Estimator to join our team at Telent Technology Services Limited. As a Highways Estimator, you will play a crucial role in producing and completing cost models for a broad cross-section of tenders across the highways sector, including traffic signals projects and motorway schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Using estimating experience and skill sets to produce and complete cost models, aligned to customer requirements, including NEC cost component principles, covering the scope of roadside technology and communications systems maintenance and upgrade works, and associated civils works such as trenching, ducting, chambers, and cabinet installation required to enable technology installation.
  • Producing comprehensive, approved quotations that meet or exceed customer requirements, ensuring a proactive and innovative approach.
  • Managing commercial risks and liabilities, identifying opportunities, and additional revenue from customers, either through contract variations or new orders.
  • Responding in a timely manner to client requests, taking on and owning client issues, and monitoring the progress of opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Experience of quoting for traffic signals scheme works.
  • Previous experience of working in a similar estimating role, working on technology or communication projects in a highways-focused business.
  • Ability to cost from first principles technology maintenance, installation, and commissioning services for highways projects, including interpretation of technical and communication drawings, cabling schematic diagrams, or specifications, and validation of Bills of Quantities, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and in particular, strong Excel skills.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of highways sector specifications and pricing schedules, including 1500 series works (Motorway Communications).
  • Broad knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation and good understanding of H&S requirements.
  • Good understanding of NEC contract models and costing methodologies.
