Job Title: Chief Mechanical Engineer

About the Role:
Futura Design is seeking a highly skilled Chief Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Leamington Spa. As a key member of our engineering consultancy, you will be responsible for delivering technical work packages and whole projects to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Propose innovative R&D projects to the CTO
- Business development activities within the Mechanical Engineering function, able to propose appropriate scope of work, timing, resource and cost estimates inline with customer RFQs
- Leading by example implementing DSD's technical processes to ensure it is executed to the highest quality when developing others in standards of drawings and technical reporting
- Managing multi person/cross functional projects to achieve budgeted margin and maintain an excellent relationship with customers, whilst being accountable to the operations board for their outcome
- Developing and maintaining strategic relationships on behalf of the function with key account responsibilities to maintain and build revenue streams in your sector
- Taking an active role in the professional development of others within the function
- An active stake holder in the Mechanical Engineering function's quality system, generating and developing technical and procedural capabilities and ensuring their continuous development
- Marketing DSD through technical and commercial forums, conferences and white papers
- Managing challenging proposals and quotes that define the strategy of the project while mitigating technical and commercial risks

Requirements:
- Extensive experience in developing different types of transmission systems in at least two main sectors: automotive, aerospace, off-highway, commercial vehicle, defence, clean energy and/or marine
- High levels of competency in design and CAE analysis of rotating systems
- Evidence of successfully executing system integration projects
- Ability to understand, collate and own the creation of compelling system propositions of engineering activities/scope outside the Mechanical Engineering domain e.g. hydraulics, development, test, controls electrified powertrain components
- A track record of successfully applying non-standard technical solutions and coaching others to achieve the same
- Mentored others in their technical development and the quality and value of their output
- Successfully managed large, multi-person and multi-discipline projects through their complete development cycle
- High level of expertise or appreciation in some of the key software packages within drivetrain engineering (SMT MASTA, Romax, Creo, UGNX, Catia, Amesim, Recurdyn, Matlab, Altair and Ansys packages)
- Generated and managed commercial opportunities to a successful conclusion
- Awareness of the commercial approach of a consultancy business will be advantageous
