Submarine Metrology Specialist

A competitive salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum is available for this Undergraduate Metrologist role at BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness.
This position offers the opportunity to work on designing, building, testing, and commissioning the largest and most advanced submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy.

About the RoleThe successful candidate will work within an exciting and collaborative team, developing, deploying, and supporting complex measurement and monitoring systems from cradle to grave.
Key responsibilities include building, integrating, and testing bespoke instrumentation solutions, as well as supporting novel research projects and emergent site instrumentation projects.
- Instrumentation Solutions: Building and integrating bespoke instrumentation solutions for a wide array of parameters, including temperature, dimensions, accelerometry, mass, pressure, shock, non-ionising radiation, ionising radiation, noise, vibration, torque, voltage, and current.
- Novel Research Projects: Supporting novel research projects connected to advance and novel sensing technologies, such as strain sensing.
- SITE Instrumentation: Identifying effective solutions to emerging problems related to metrology and calibration.
A minimum 2:2 degree in Electronic Engineering, Control Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or Maths is required.
