Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to oversee the safety, health, environment, and quality assurance aspects of their business. The successful candidate will develop, manage, supervise, and coordinate work systems to ensure that the production or services of the company meet the highest quality standards and that the working practices of the company are delivered to the 18001 Safety Standards implemented.

The role involves building the company's full fibre network in Northumberland and surrounding areas by installing duct network, armoured fibre cables, identifying network blockages to then repair, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Determine the strategic direction and work priorities for the continuous improvement of the office and Sites SHEQ management programme and systems.
  2. Create a Safety First health and safety culture company-wide - promoting incident reporting.
  3. Complete prevention inspections on a regular basis and ensure records are maintained.
  4. Full responsibility for Company preparations for monthly and quality audits.
  5. Conduct occupational health and safety related surveys e.g. noise, lighting, exposure to chemical substances and make associated recommendations.
  6. Oversee associated telecommunication network build.
  7. Oversee excavating in the highways/footways complying with NRSWA and HSG47.
  8. Provide solutions to on-site issues that may arise during construction and maintenance of networks.
  9. Able to read comprehensive job packs provided by the planning department.
  10. Comply with company policies and procedures, ISO certifications, industry standards, legal & regulatory obligations.
  11. Weekly reporting on data collected from internal and external audits, presenting this in a report to be shared with the client identifying trends and actions.
  12. Produce CDM documentation such as construction phase plans and health & safety files.
  13. Stay informed on changes in Health and Safety legislation.

Candidate Profile:

  1. Experience working in Telecoms Infrastructure.
  2. Health and Safety Qualified (e.g NEBOSH Diploma/Certificate).
  3. Ability to meet agreed standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
  4. Full, clean driver's licence held for a minimum of two years.
  5. NRSWA, NPORS desirable.
