We are seeking an experienced Optometrist to join our team at The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop a career in Hospital Optometry.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work closely with our multidisciplinary team, including doctors and consultants, to provide high-quality eye care services to patients of all ages. As an Eye Care Specialist, you will perform diagnostic refractions, low vision assessments, and complex contact lens fittings, among other duties.

This role offers opportunities for professional growth and development, including training and support to achieve the requirements of the job description. We encourage applications from newly qualified Optometrists or those looking to transition into Hospital Optometry.

About the Role:
  • Working full-time: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract type: Permanent, with potential progression to Band 7 after full training
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform diagnostic refractions on patients of all ages, including cycloplegic and subjective refractions on young children
  2. Conduct low vision assessments for patients struggling with poor vision
  3. Fit and aftercare of complex contact lenses
  4. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care
Requirements:
  • BSc(Hons) degree in optometry/vision science/ophthalmic optics (2:2 or above)
  • Post-qualification optometrist experience in a wide range of optometry services
