Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Development Manager to lead our New Homes Development Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of development professionals to deliver a portfolio of large-scale and complex new build projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of development professionals to deliver new build projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring compliance with Council policies and procedures.
  • Drive delivery and manage performance of the development team, setting milestones and targets through scheme appraisal and regular team meetings.
  • Deputise for Heads of Service in the provision of new build services, as required.
  • Use extensive development experience to motivate and support the team to achieve consistent high standards.
  • Develop and update new build checklists and KPIs to measure the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the service.
  • Review project risks and ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Identify and appraise sites suitable for development or redevelopment, in liaison with other teams as appropriate.
  • Lead on the development of major estate regeneration and other large-scale new build projects.
Essential Experience
  • Experience of managing substantial budgets, undertaking complex financial and development appraisals, and attracting external funding to support residential development and regeneration projects.
  • Experience of managing large complex development or regeneration programmes.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams in a housing or related area within the public or private sector to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Experience in affordable housing funding mechanisms, including GLA/HCA and local authority policy and investment frameworks.
Essential Qualifications
  • A Project Management qualification or other relevant professional qualification in a housing related subject and demonstrable experience of working in a management capacity with housing development or a development related field.
