About the Role
A General Operative will be responsible for supporting residents with planned repairs and maintenance across our portfolio of properties. This role involves working from job to job, on a planned route, to deliver high-standard repairs and refurbishment activities to Housing properties. The successful candidate will be part of a local team, undertaking General repairs and refurbishment activities, while delivering best-in-class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake certified core trade activities to complete repair/refurbishment works on time and to a high standard, in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures.
- Take ownership of construction, fault-finding, and maintenance repairs, aiming for a first-time completion while remaining within budget and time parameters.
- Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with service users, clients, and internal/external stakeholders.
- Process all activities electronically, utilizing a handheld device (PDA), including worksheets, timesheets, and photographic evidence of works.
- Keep all supplied company assets in a good condition, in line with company policies, and report any damages to the Supervisor/Manager.
- Utilize existing stock or collect materials as required to meet works order requirements, in accordance with standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control compliance.
- Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions as required.
- Participate in call-out cover to ensure contract compliance and service user satisfaction for emergency repairs.
Role Criteria
- Window and door fitting experience.
- Carpentry experience.
- Basic plumbing knowledge.
- IT literacy.
- Good customer service skills.
- UK full driving license.
