About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Bereavement Support Coordinator to join our team at Mary Stevens Hospice. As a key member of our Patient and Family Support Services, you will provide emotional support to individuals and families affected by bereavement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the delivery and administration of hospice bereavement care, ensuring seamless support to our patients and their loved ones.
  • Providing post-bereavement support to family, friends, and carers of hospice patients, as well as pre-bereavement support when needed.
  • Delivering support in individual, family, and group settings, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Supervising volunteers delivering bereavement care, ensuring they receive the necessary training and support to provide high-quality care.
  • Working closely with the hospice team to identify clients and deliver services, ensuring a comprehensive and compassionate approach to bereavement support.
  • Supporting the delivery of educational commitments, including training and development programs for volunteers and staff.
  • Providing post-bereavement support and advice to individuals and families, helping them navigate the grieving process.
  • Maintaining working relationships with external services, ensuring effective liaison and collaboration to meet the needs of our clients.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Good listening skills, with the ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of each client.
  • Ability to recognize mental and physical health problems, and identify when further advice is required.
  • Good organizational skills, including information, resource, and time management.
  • Up-to-date IT skills, with the ability to use technology to support your work.
  • Knowledge of the local area, networks, and communities, with the ability to work effectively with external partners.
