Bereavement Support Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Bereavement Support Coordinator to join our team at Mary Stevens Hospice. As a key member of our Patient and Family Support Services, you will provide emotional support and guidance to individuals and families who have experienced loss.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the delivery and administration of bereavement care services, ensuring a high level of quality and compassion.
- Provide post-bereavement support to family, friends, and carers of hospice patients, as well as pre-bereavement support as needed.
- Deliver support in individual, family, and group settings, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each client.
- Supervise volunteers delivering bereavement care, ensuring they receive the necessary training and support to provide high-quality services.
- Work closely with the hospice team to identify clients and deliver services, ensuring a seamless and compassionate experience.
- Support the delivery of educational commitments, including training and development programs for volunteers and staff.
- Deliver post-bereavement support and advice to individuals and families, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to process their grief.
- Maintain working relationships with external services, ensuring effective liaison and collaboration to meet the needs of our clients.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, volunteers, and staff.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
- Good listening skills, with the ability to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of each client.
- Ability to receive, understand, and convey information and ideas effectively to others.
- Ability to recognize mental and physical health problems and identify when further advice is required.
- Good organizational skills, including information, resources, and time management.
- Up-to-date IT skills, with the ability to use technology to support your work.
- Knowledge of the local area, networks, and communities, with the ability to work effectively with external partners.
- Experience of working within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
- NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
- Emotional robustness and ability to work in highly emotive and stressful circumstances.
- Self-awareness and an understanding of grief and trauma reactions.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to travel independently and work flexibly, including lone working when needed.
- Self-motivated and able to show initiative, while maintaining a person-centered approach.
- A team player, able to work well with others within and outside of the team.
