Job Title: Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to work with our multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality care to children and adolescents with mental health needs. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of mental health services for children and adolescents, working closely with other healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of our trust's mental health strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of mental health services for children and adolescents, ensuring high-quality care and effective service delivery.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care to children and adolescents.
  • Contribute to the development of our trust's mental health strategy, ensuring that services are aligned with national guidelines and best practices.
  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that staff are supported and developed to provide high-quality care.
  • Participate in audit and research projects, contributing to the improvement of mental health services for children and adolescents.
Requirements
  • Hold a medical qualification (e.g., MBBS or equivalent) and be registered with the GMC.
  • Have a CCT in Psychiatry or be on the Specialist Register in Psychiatry.
  • Have Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician approval or be able to obtain approval before starting the post.
  • Have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • Have experience of working with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to the development of mental health services.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Have a qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Have experience of working in a leadership role, including management and leadership skills training.
  • Have experience of teaching and supervising junior medical staff.
  • Have experience of carrying out audit and research projects, including publication and presentation.
