Job Title: Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to work with our multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality care to children and adolescents with mental health needs. As a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a range of mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose patients with mental health conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care and effective communication.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of mental health services for children and adolescents, working closely with other stakeholders to ensure seamless care pathways.
  • Participate in education and training activities, sharing expertise and knowledge with junior staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in research and audit activities, contributing to the development of evidence-based practice and improving patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for Specialist Register in Psychiatry with the General Medical Council.
  • Experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with a strong understanding of mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of current mental health policies, legislation, and guidelines, with the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
