Job Title: Academic SEN Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutor and Learning Support Professional to join our team. As an Educational Assistant for SEN Students, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to overcome barriers and achieve their academic goals.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will deliver tuition sessions to help these students gain confidence and level required to attain qualifications needed and potentially return to further education. You will be supported by a lead tutor for your specific area, designated safeguarding leads, curriculum leads for Maths and English, Behavioural specialists, and a Head of Education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver tuition sessions to support students with SEN
  • Cater lesson plans to meet individual student needs
  • Demonstrate a nurturing and supportive nature with good behaviour management skills
  • Rapport building with students
  • Good communication skills

Requirements:
  • Confidence working with a range of SEN/SEMH and challenging behaviour
  • Ability to cater lesson plans to the child's individual needs
  • Demonstrating a nurturing and supportive nature with good behaviour management skills
  • Rapport building with the child
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to identify existing and potential barriers to students' learning and help them to overcome them
  • Be adaptable and ready to work in a variety of classroom roles, both indoors and outside according to the individual needs
  • Have previous experience of working with children who have special educational needs
  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to build rapport with the child
