About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Care Lead to join our team at KYN Bickley. As a Care Lead, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional person-centred care to our residents, ensuring their dignity, respect, and wellbeing are preserved at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Clinical Lead/Registered Nurse in delivering high standards of care to residents
  • Administer medication and lead the night care team
  • Ensure individualised person-centred care is delivered in accordance with residents' care plans
  • Create a nurturing environment where residents feel loved, happy, safe, and secure
  • Participate in clinical supervisions to support personal development and promote improved resident outcomes
  • Ensure residents' medical, physical, social, and emotional needs are met
  • Issue daily reports to the person in charge, noting any changes in residents' care
  • Check documentation concerning nutrition and special dietary requirements, reporting inadequate intake to the Registered Nurse
  • Encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and provide physical and mental stimulation in a person-centred way
  • Oversee timely completion of daily care-related documentation, ensuring accuracy
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor the care team to develop strong relationships with residents
  • Write daily/nightly records of care delivered in residents' Daily Records
  • Contribute to care planning and accurately complete necessary records for designated residents
  • Participate in care reviews and ensure the team anticipates and responds to residents' needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure delegated tasks are carried out and accurately recorded
  • Act as the KYN Induction Partner for new team members and coach them through their induction
  • Support and develop new and less experienced Health Care Assistants through mentorship
  • Participate in clinical supervisions to support personal development and promote improved resident outcomes
  • Attend statutory training sessions and ensure practices reflect learning outcomes
  • Keep a reflective diary of how learning has influenced practice
  • Attend other training deemed applicable to the role
  • Familiarise yourself with and promote KYN's values
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding residents, visitors, and team members
  • Communicate effectively and help resolve concerns raised while working with residents or team members
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Recognise the responsibility of all team members to make new residents, new team members, and visitors welcome and familiarise them with the home
  • Co-operate with, support, and promote the work of colleagues regarding specific aspects of the home, e.g. Infection Control
  • Adhere to all KYN's policies and procedures
  • Ensure all aspects of the environment are clean and tidy, particularly residents' rooms and ensuite facilities
  • Be responsible for the Health and Safety of self, other team members, residents, and visitors under the Health and Safety regulations
  • Report any hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge and take other appropriate action within the remit of your training and knowledge
  • Write and evaluate Care Plans as delegated by the Clinical Lead/Registered Nurse
  • Administer medications in line with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Guidance 'The Handling of Medicines in Social Care'
  • Check controlled drugs with the Registered Nurse on duty, adhering to KYN's policies and procedures
  • Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and in adherence to the Wound Care Plan, replace wound dressings as required
  • Act as a reference point and support to all new Household Carers joining KYN
  • Act as the infection control lead
  • Be a link to the Registered Nurse with regards to the management of ongoing clinical issues, i.e. falls / nutrition / tissue viability
  • Create a nurturing environment where residents and their family feel loved, happy, safe, and secure
  • Act as a brand ambassador who demonstrates and leads the KYN values
