Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Livewell Southwest CIC. As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, you will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing crisis response and assessment services to individuals in need.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing brief clinical risk and mental health assessments, formulation, decision-making, and short-term contingency planning for people presenting in mental health crisis. You will work closely with other mental health services and agencies, such as the police and local authority, to provide face-to-face assessments and empower patients, carers, and their families in decision-making and divert to a range of health and social care resources for support.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Healthcare and a post-graduate qualification or specialist training with relevant experience. You will also have evidence of continuing professional development and be able to demonstrate commitment to high-quality care and service provision.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide brief clinical risk and mental health assessments, formulation, decision-making, and short-term contingency planning for people presenting in mental health crisis.
  • Work closely with other mental health services and agencies to provide face-to-face assessments and empower patients, carers, and their families in decision-making and divert to a range of health and social care resources for support.
  • Act as shift lead on a rota basis, coordinating the service delivery, prioritising workload, and providing clinical advice to junior staff.
  • Contribute to the development of training programmes for the staff team and the local induction programme to include mentoring students.
  • Lead on investigations for complaints, complex cases, and internal reviews with management support where required.

  • Degree in Healthcare and a post-graduate qualification or specialist training with relevant experience.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide crisis response and assessment services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
