Seeking Experienced Business Leaders

Cathedral Appointments | South West Recruitment is seeking two experienced business leaders to join the Board as Non-Executive Directors. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in Property (Agency) or Academia/Higher Education sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Board: Ensure the highest standards of governance are applied to managing the performance of the Chamber's activities and representing the interests of members.
  • Financial Oversight: Work with the Finance Director to ensure appropriate financial oversight is maintained in the delivery of services by Exeter Chamber and that activities/events are delivered within the parameters agreed in the Business Plan.
  • Ambassador Role: Act as an ambassador for the Exeter Chamber Board, representing the Board at events and with member interactions/comms.
  • Membership Recruitment: Support membership recruitment through introductions to potential member organisations and/or individuals.
Time Commitment
  • Board Meetings: Attend Chamber Board meetings (currently 11 per annum) – currently held 2nd Thursday of each month, am.
  • Sub-Groups: Where required, serve on sub-groups of the Board attending relevant meetings, ie. for particular events or initiatives.
  • Annual General Meeting: Attend the Chamber's Annual General Meeting.
  • Networking Events: Attend a minimum of two Chamber networking events per annum as a Chamber 'Ambassador'.
Requirements
  • Sector Specialist: A sector specialist with experience from a Property (Agency) or Academia/Higher Education sector.
  • Senior Business Leader: A successful senior business leader/owner who has held posts that encompass; operational, functional and strategic responsibilities.
  • Commitment to the Chamber: Genuine commitment to the Chamber network and an employee of a current member of Exeter Chamber of Commerce or Devon Chamber of Commerce.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with strong personal and local professional networks.
  • Drive and Availability: Drive, commitment and availability to be able to fulfill the necessary time commitments and responsibilities required.
