Electro-Optic Systems Engineer

The team you will be joining is part of a multi-discipline engineering group responsible for both production and design development of existing electro-optic systems as well as next-generation products. This role involves contributing to the delivery of ICRM (Infra-Red Counter Measures) systems, laser ranging and designation systems, and assisting in developing next-generation laser and electro-optic systems including the Dragonfire and GCAP Programmes.
Job Description
You will join our multi-discipline engineering team, helping to develop world-leading integrated sensor systems for our customer base. You will work closely with engineers from various disciplines, including Supportability, Electronic, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering, to enhance the Supportability Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in analysing, assessing, and influencing the supportability characteristics and performance of Leonardo's next-generation products.
- Perform Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analyses (FMEA/FMECA) on electronic cards as part of laser systems to inform the ongoing design process.
- Engage with Integrated Project Teams to deliver Supportability Engineering (SE) work packages covering Reliability, Maintainability, and Testability (RM&T) analysis, Support Strategy planning, and modelling.
- Utilise analytical techniques and procedures to perform RM&T analysis on integrated systems.
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, RF, electronics, and safety engineers to identify and mitigate real support-related issues on complex systems before they reach customers.
Requirements and Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have a degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline, along with industry experience or defence-related qualifications. Required skills include working knowledge of RMT analysis techniques, Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), and familiarity with statistical data analysis.
