Mental Health Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our Student Wellbeing Team. In this role, you will work closely with students who experience mental health difficulties or have dual diagnoses of learning difficulties/mental health with associated behavioural issues.
You will be the first point of contact for students presenting with moderate to acute mental health issues and provide initial assessments, practical assistance, signposting, and advice. You will also make referrals to external specialist services as required and respond to crisis situations such as students at immediate risk of self-harm and/or suicidal behaviours.
The successful candidate will have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in the NHS/local authority and in a clinical capacity within a mental health setting. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations.
