About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our team at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our Mental Health Services across North East London.

Job Overview

This is a full-time clinical and strategic leadership role, hosted by NELFT in connection to the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) across North East London. The post holder will be responsible for the clinical and strategic leadership of the NEL wide MHSTs, working closely with Assistant Directors and other relevant leadership roles in the multiple organisations commissioned to provide MHSTs in the NEL area.

Main Responsibilities

• Set, implement and evaluate clear, achievable and measurable clinical objectives for the NEL MHSTs.
• Assist with the effective management of operational services and resources within the designated service areas, including budgets and staffing as appropriate.
• Initiate and implement programmes to achieve strategic and clinical changes and improvements to services and systems.
• Act as the point of contact for NEL wide MHST programme oversight.
• Ensure that there is a research culture within NEL MHSTs, coordinating the implementation of Research and Development (R&D) activity within the service.
• Provide strategic and clinical leadership, liaising with commissioners at ICB area levels across multiple contracts.
• Support the development of a multi-professional workforce plan spanning MHSTs across NEL.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive clinical and operational leadership experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services or MHSTs, with a proven track record of meeting performance and governance targets in the modern NHS. They will also have a successful track record of strategy formulation and implementation in mental health services, as well as experience of multidisciplinary working and clinical supervision in mental health services. In addition, they will have knowledge of strategic planning processes, particularly with regard to the current Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) strategy, and policy and practice related to education settings, including whole school approaches to emotional wellbeing and mental health.
