About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Volunteer Program Coordinator to join our team at Storyhouse. As a key member of our People Team, you will play a vital role in coordinating all volunteer activity across the organization and supporting the Head of People with the ongoing management and future development of the volunteer program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Volunteer Administration
    • Coordinate the maintenance of our volunteer systems, training records, and rota management to ensure seamless volunteer engagement.
    • Work closely with all departments to integrate volunteers into their roles and ensure a positive experience.
    • Oversee and enact all volunteer policies and procedures, contributing to annual reviews and ongoing development.
    • Manage communication with volunteers, keeping them informed about Storyhouse news and opportunities.
    • Stay up-to-date with best practices and legislation in the volunteer sector.
    • Conduct regular volunteer surveys and establish routes for feedback.
  • Volunteer Recruitment
    • Proactively manage volunteer recruitment, creating a diverse pool of volunteers to support our work.
    • Ensure relevant DBS checks are conducted and personal references are obtained.
    • Support the development and delivery of volunteer inductions.
    • Collaborate with the Head of People to create volunteer opportunities that support our teams and provide a first-class experience.
    • Process leavers and monitor exit interviews.
    • Audit and monitor uniform levels, issuing to volunteers and highlighting low stock levels.
  • Training and Development
    • Maintain online training records, ensuring volunteers complete required training.
    • Assist with in-house training organization, booking spaces and compiling presentations.
  • Programme Development
    • Represent Storyhouse at networking events, open days, and recruitment fairs, raising the profile of our volunteer work.
    • Work with the Head of People to produce reports on the volunteer program for the Senior Leadership Team, trustees, and stakeholders.
    • Develop relationships with partnership organizations and networks to maintain and develop volunteer opportunities.
    • Offer Young Leader graduates volunteer opportunities through Young Storyhouse.
    • Work on volunteer incentives, recognition, and reward schemes.
  • General
    • Act in accordance with Storyhouse's policies and procedures, undertaking any required training.
    • Contribute to the life of the organization as a whole, acting as a role model for other staff.
    • Carry out any other duties as required in the Volunteer Coordinator role.
