Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our global government relations efforts. As the Head of Global Government Relations, you will be responsible for developing and delivering strategy to influence key geographies and multilateral fora, including the G7 and G20.

You will provide strategic leadership and oversight for our global government relations work, setting ambitious strategic objectives and ensuring a coherent and consistent approach to our political advocacy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a thought-leader, senior representative and adviser for Wellcome, strengthening and expanding support for our priorities at the very highest levels of government.
  • Building, managing, leading and motivating an integrated, inclusive and flexible team, ensuring that people with the right range of skills and experience are recruited and retained, and that their skills and professional capabilities are maximised.
  • Supporting and holding the team to account to deliver high quality work at all times and pursuing continuous improvement and innovation in what we deliver and how we deliver it.
  • As a member of the GRSP management team, you will play a key role in the overall leadership and direction-setting of the team, as well as contributing to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation at all times.
  • Contributing to the creation and development of a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

Requirements:

  • Sound experience of successfully building, leading and developing diverse and high-performing teams, as well as demonstrable strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Substantial, senior level experience of leading government relations / public affairs work.
  • Significant experience of working in a similar role within health policy / advocacy programmes as well as working in global health, research and development for health or similar.
