Job Title: Child Welfare Specialist
Location: London Borough Of Greenwich, England
About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced social worker to join our MASH team in the London Borough of Greenwich. As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will play a critical role in assessing and responding to referrals, ensuring that vulnerable children are protected, supported, and given the best opportunity to thrive.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Timely Identification of Needs and Risk: Provide effective social work support to children in need, ensuring their health and development are promoted, and any disabilities are minimized to allow them to live as normal a life as possible.
- Safeguarding and Permanency Planning: Identify when children are unable to live at home, taking timely action to secure permanence within a timeframe that meets their needs. For looked-after children, ensure their needs are met in line with their care or pathway plan, helping them make progress and fulfill their potential.
- Child-Centered Practice: Place the child at the heart of assessment, planning, intervention, and review processes. Regularly seek and consider their views and wishes to understand their world and tailor interventions accordingly.
- Professional Leadership and Collaboration: Lead effectively within a multi-agency framework, ensuring professionals work together to meet the needs of children in need, including those on a child protection plan, privately fostered children, looked-after children, and care leavers.
- Working with Parents and Carers: Collaborate with parents and carers to strengthen protective factors, reduce risks, and promote safe and reasonable parenting. When cooperation isn't forthcoming, pursue alternative arrangements to secure the child's well-being.
About You:
We are looking for a qualified social worker with recent experience in a MASH or similar screening team, with a commitment to child-centered practice and the ability to handle complex cases in a fast-paced, office-based environment. Strong communication, assessment, and decision-making skills are essential, as well as a commitment to collaborative work within a multi-agency setting.
What We Offer:
- A competitive rate of up to £37 per hour.
- An office-based environment with a supportive and dynamic team.
- The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in Greenwich.
