Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide evidence-based nursing care to patients, utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices, and techniques of general nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients, including administering medications, providing first aid, and basic life support.
- Screen for sick call and maintain open lines of communication with security and treatment staff.
- Record all pertinent information into the medical record.
- Interact with other departments as needed.
- Promote continued competence through education and certification.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
- Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care.
- Demonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals.
- Ability to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers' orders in applying treatments.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to administer practical nursing care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment.
- Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care.
