Senior Research Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer to join our Non Destructive Testing Team at The MTC in Coventry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project technical deliverables, ensuring work meets customer requirements and is delivered within budget and timescales.
  • Undertake innovative engineering research, focusing on technology readiness levels 3+ and demonstrating industrial project delivery.
  • Support Senior Managers in identifying and delivering new technology capabilities.
  • Take overall ownership of project delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and managing project budget and deliverables.
Requirements
  • Degree-level engineer, technologist, scientist, or mathematician.
  • Ideal candidate has professional registration and Chartered professional qualification.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of NDT techniques, particularly X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) and analysis methods.
  • Broad knowledge of additional NDT techniques, including ultrasonic inspection, electromagnetic inspection, thermographic inspection, and image-based inspection methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing sector and understanding of manufacturing systems and technologies.
  • Experience working in R&D or project-based environments.
  • Demonstrable expertise in a specific area relevant to the theme.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, network effectively, and demonstrate a one-MTC mindset.
  • Pragmatic problem-solving approach and willingness to physically participate in work completion when required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work autonomously to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations.
