Job Title: Senior Locally Employed Doctor

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital as a Senior Locally Employed Doctor in Paediatric Oncology, Haematology and Stem Cell Transplant and Gene Therapy. The post is designed to provide a thorough grounding in paediatric oncology, general and malignant haematology, clinical stem cell transplantation and gene therapies, including CAR-T gene therapies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend ward rounds and MDT meetings
  • Provide ward cover, including out-of-hours cover
  • Attend clinics and outpatient care
  • Manage medical emergencies
Person Specification:Essential:
  • Holds acceptable primary medical qualification
  • Demonstrable postgraduate training
  • Competence in managing medical emergencies
  • Evidence of clinical competencies in their medical specialty
  • An appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • A commitment to personal CPD
Desirable:
  • Awards/Distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
  • Logbook
  • Valid Life Support Courses (ACLS, ALS, ATLS, APLS or similar)
  • Involvement in Research and Publication
Safety & Quality:Essential:
  • Understanding of the basic principles of evidence-based practice, patient safety, audit, clinical risk management and clinical quality improvement initiatives
  • Ability to prioritise clinical need
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
  • Time management skills
Desirable:
  • Completed an audit/quality improvement project
