Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SEN Art Teacher to join our dynamic team at a vibrant secondary school in Hackney. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in inspiring and supporting students with special educational needs through the medium of art, helping them to express themselves, develop their creative skills, and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching Art to SEN Students: The successful candidate will plan, prepare, and deliver creative and engaging art lessons tailored to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring that all learners can access the curriculum and develop their artistic skills.
  • Collaboration with SEN Department: The SEN Art Teacher will work closely with the SEN department to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting lesson plans and teaching techniques to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Inclusive Teaching Strategies: The successful candidate will use a range of inclusive teaching strategies, including visual aids, hands-on activities, and sensory learning tools, to create lessons that are accessible and enjoyable for all students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: The SEN Art Teacher will provide ongoing assessment and feedback, tracking student progress and ensuring that their artistic and personal development is nurtured.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialization in Art or a related subject.
  • Experience working with special educational needs students, preferably in a secondary school setting, with a proven ability to differentiate lessons to meet a wide range of needs.
  • A passion for inclusive education and the ability to engage and inspire students through art, tailoring lessons to suit their individual learning styles and abilities.
