Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Asset Inspector to join our team at the Port of Dover. As an Asset Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting thorough condition assessments and inspections of our landside and marine assets, including buildings, bridges, roadways, piers, quays, and breakwaters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and undertake inspections independently or with other Asset Inspectors, ensuring safe access to assets.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements for inspections, collaborating with stakeholders to minimize disruption to operations.
  • Prepare inspection reports, record defects and condition of assets, and suggest recommendations for maintenance and repair.
  • Upload documented outputs and implement recommendations into our electronic asset management system.
  • Supervise consultants and contractors undertaking minor construction, maintenance, or survey works, ensuring they work safely and to specification.
Requirements
  • 5 GCSEs minimum grade 4 or above, including English and Mathematics.
  • HNC in Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, or similar construction-related discipline, or Trade apprenticeship to a minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent Vocational Training.
  • Prior experience of undertaking asset condition inspections is desired but not essential.
  • Full driving license and use of own transport.
  • Physically fit, able to work at heights, from ladders or working platforms, over/on water, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
